[YOUR] Forest
[MY] Forest
ˈfɒrɪst/
noun
1. Antithesis to the town.
2. An ancient boundary to civilisation celebrated by all cultures.
[MY] Forests are places of myths, legends and fairy tales; symbolising the hinterlands of our imagination, mystery and danger. For the characters I read lost in the woodlands, so often hold a mirror to the unchartered territories of my own life.
[MY] Forest is a place of personal development, a space of opportunity to grow. A place where I exist without gender, to understand man’s need to embrace nature for his answers and for woman to connect with her primal self, the mother. It symbolises a journey to me, one of transition between youth and adulthood. A moment in my life lost without certainty of survival until I emerge from the trees to walk among my fellow man once more.
Once the work is created, some would say the artist is obsolete.
